Setup Outlook App for iPhone (IOS) (Exchange Online)

Only customers that are on the new Exchange online server should follow these procedures. You will be notified when you are moved to the new Exchange Online server.

Use this setup if you wish to receive your RRU e-mail using your iPhone or iPad using the Outook app.

Although these instructions are intended for iPhone/iPad users, the information is similar for all smart phone devices. 

Shared Mailbox not available remotely

Please note that shared mailbox are not available remotely through mail apps. To access a shared mailbox while off campus, please use Webmail (students/staff/faculty) or Remote (staff/faculty only) .

A few things to note before you proceed:

You will need to know the following information:

  • Your UPN Username (the username you use to log into Moodle + @royalroads.ca.  i.e. d1brown@royalroads.ca)

  • Your Academic Account Password (the password you use to log into Moodle)

  • Your full email address (<first name>.<last name>@royalroads.ca.  IF there is a number in your username, then the number proceeds your last name. i.e. Douglas.1Brown@royalroads.ca)

If you are not sure of this information, please contact Computer Services.  During regular business hours, please contact Computer Services by phone otherwise, you can contact us by email or Online Request Form.

As of July 22, 2024, previous setup for Outlook on your Mobile device needs to be updated with the new settings below. If you have a previous configuration to your RRU email that is no longer syncing, please remove your current Exchange online mailbox with the procedure below.

If not, proceed to Adding your account

Removing a previous RRU account for your Outlook App

  • Go to settings in the Outlook App

  • Accounts

  • Select the account

  • Remove from this Device

Adding a new account to your Outlook app

  1. Download the app Outlook from the App Store

  2. Open the Outlook App

  3. Add the Account User Principal name (UPN@royalroads.ca)

  1. MFA will be required

  2. If this is the first time using the Authenticator you need to sign in

  3. if this is the first time an on Outlook app MFA Code or prompt will show

  4. The account will added successfully
