Most RRU services down Feb 8 from 9am-5:30pm due to power outage and systems upgrades

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, Operations and IT will be performing electrical and systems upgrades and repairs as part of Royal Roads’ Climate Action Infrastructure Project.

There will be a campus-wide power outage during this time and all on network services hosted on campus will be offline during the upgrade work, including remote access from off-site.

Service should be fully restored at 5:30 p.m. February 8. If there is a delay, we will notify the community by 5 p.m. February 8.

The upgrades will provide improved performance and enhanced stability for us, and we look forward to providing you with this improvement.

During the power outage, all on-campus and off-campus network services will be unavailable including:

  • Moodle sites.

  • Corporate Applications such as Agresso, EMS, CMMS, HR Smart, etc.

  • Email – both sending and receiving.

  • Network drives and file server.

  • All internet access (wifi and network).

  • VoIP Phones.

  • Account creation/login/course purchases on the Professional and Continuing Studies site.

  • All computer workstations accessing internal and external services including:

    • Computer labs

    • Library workstations

    • Remove access from home

  • Security cameras/door access/alarms.

The following services will remain available as they are hosted remotely:

The following measures will be in place during the electrical outage:

  • All unoccupied buildings will be locked.

  • All building elevators will be out of service.

    • Please contact security (250 415-7811) if you have mobility needs.

  • Campus service providers will be closed.

    • Library

    • Recreation Centre

    • Habitat Café

  • Increased patrols of campus buildings and grounds during outage.

  • In the event of an emergency, 911 phone service is still available.

  • For non-emergencies, call Security at 250 415-7811.
