Moodle - Grading an Assignment (staff/faculty)

This article will go over grading workflows and commonly used grading options and features. Since grading and feedback are usually done at the same time they'll be covered together in the grading workflows.

Topics Covered In This Article

Grading Workflows

Online Grading

Online grading allows you to grade and provide feedback for each submission individually online. Feedback may be provided by using the online form or by downloading the submission, adding feedback, and uploading it.

View more information on the online assignment grading workflow here.

Offline Grading

Offline grading allows you to download all student submissions to your computer. You may add feedback directly to these files and upload these files for feedback when you're finished grading. At the same time you can download a grading worksheet to record grades, which can also be uploaded to Moodle when you're finished grading to enter student grades.

Quick Grading

Quick grading allows you to enter grades and feedback directly into the submissions table. This strategy works well if you simply want to enter grades and/or online feedback (but not upload a feedback file).
