2021 Cyber Security Awareness Month

October is  Cyber Security Awareness Month!

Cyber Security is still a challenge.  The cyber criminals continue to seek out ways to exploit our systems and trick us into doing things we shouldn't.

Even with all of the technological changes we've implemented - and will implement over this next year - YOU are still our best defense against cyber crime.

Around the world, governments, businesses and institutions like universities have increasingly come under attack, often with serious results. Closer to home, Royal Roads University has been the target of numerous sophisticated Phishing attacks, one of which was successful and resulted in four of our colleagues having their accounts compromised.   These incidents  highlight how vulnerable we can be.

Cyber Security Awareness Month is an internationally recognized campaign held each October to help the public learn more about the importance of cyber security. This campaign helps Canadians stay secure online by teaching them simple steps to protect themselves and their devices. This year we're shining a light on all the ways the internet allowed us to stay connected and find a new "normal" in our lives.

Each week, we’ll be showcasing the many ways the internet has helped us to live our lives as normally as possible this year and let you know how you can stay connected safely.

Join us all month for learning and activities that will help to keep you and your families safe online.
