October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month!
Cyber Security is a hot topic these days.
You are probably aware of the cyber security problems that MacEwan University in Edmonton encountered back in August. Subjected to a ‘spear phishing’ email attack, they mistakenly transferred $11.8 million dollars to cyber criminals . Closer to home, Royal Roads University has had 3 ‘ransomware’ incidents over the last year. Fortunately, these ransomware incidents did not cause significant outages.  They do, however, highlight how vulnerable we could be.
We know that you have a lot of questions about cyber security, especially about what you can do at home to protect yourself and your family. That is why we are excited to announce a series of activities next month during National Cyber Security Awareness Month. During October we will be providing a variety of resources and events, delivered via this site, email and Crossroads posts, to help you better understand cyber security and the simple steps you can take to protect yourself, your family, and our organization. Our goal is to enable you to make the most of today’s technology.
Join us all month for learning and activities that will help to keep you and your families safe online.
