Problem

When trying to add an additional Outlook profile, the system does not behave properly and it only creates a new blank profile

Background information

This issue does not seem to affect all customers and the fix requires a change to the system registry and should only be performed by someone with experience in this area.

Solution

  • Open the Registry file
  • Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover

  • Review the following possible DWORD values and change the value to "0"

    • ZeroConfigExchange
    • PreferLocalXML
    • ExcludeHttpRedirect
    • ExcludeHttpsAutoDiscoverDomain
    • ExcludeHttpsRootDomain
    • ExcludeScpLookup
    • ExcludeSrvRecord
    • ExcludeLastKnownGoodURL(only applies to Outlook 2010 version 14.0.7140.5001 and later versions)
    • ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint (only applies to Outlook 2016 version 16.0.6741.2017 and later versions)
  • Make note of the values changed in case you need to reverse the change

  • Repeat step for the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover

  • Close the Registry file to save the changes

  • Reboot not required

  • Follow the procedure again to create the new/additional profile
