Welcome to RRU!
We are here to help you succeed in your studies by explaining the differences in the accounts you’ll use to access RRU resources.
If you have questions at any time, contact Computer Services using the information at the bottom of this page.
Tip |
As a student, you have two accounts but one RRU Login. The RRU Login username has two different formats. You may be required to enter your RRU Login username differently depending on the system you’re using. To keep these straight, please continue reading.
This account is completely separate and you created it when you applied. You will always be able to log into this account with your personal email address and whatever passphrase you setup when you applied. This account never expires.
- You can find the MyAdmin Site at https://myadmin.royalroads.ca/
- You can pay bills, order transcripts, view grades, order a bus pass, upload documents, manage your email forwarding and update your personal email address
We supplied you this username and you set a 15+ character password when you activated the account. This is your username consisting of your preferred name + last name (and possibly a number).
This is used to log into sites like:
- Professional & Continuing Studies Moodle once registered for a Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) course
- Under Graduate and Graduate Studies Moodle one registered for a Credit program
- RRU Library once registered for a Credit program
This is your username with @royalroads.ca added to it. This makes it look like an email address, but it is not used in this way. It is the SAME password as above.
This is used to log into sites like:
- Anything relate to Microsoft like Sharepoint sites and RRU email once registered for a Credit program
- On campus RRU wifi
We automatically created this when you were accepted into a credit program. This is your full name (and possibly a number). With very few exceptions, you rarely ever really use this email address to log in.
How will I know which username format to use?In most cases we try to given an example on the username you should be using however the simple rules is, if the site is a Microsoft managed site with a login that looks like this, you should be using your RRU Login in long form (i.e. d1brown@royalroads.ca) ![]() All others use your RRU login (d1brown) unless otherwise directed. |
You created your account passphrase when you applied. It would have been 15+ characters and we would have suggested you use a “phrase”.
How can I reset my passphrase? If you cannot remember your passphrase is, you can reset your passphrase on our web site here. You MUST know your student ID number. If you don't know your student ID number, you will need to contact the registrar's office at 1-800-788-8028 x4862. The student number is also on all receipts your received from Royal Roads. |
Second the email address is generated based on the username.
We cannot changed the name except in very specific circumstances. This includes legal name change or of the username is offensive. If the username is offensive, then the username is incremented by 1 number. |
All RRU official correspondence is sent to your RRU email account. There are a few ways to access your RRU email account. (a couple methods require a mobile device)
Email forwarding (default) - All RRU email is forwarded directly to your personal email account. There is no copy anywhere else so there is no need to access your RRU webmail. You can manage your forwarding on the MyAdmin site. If you want to turn forwarding off, please make sure you can log into Webmail first (addressed below).
Mobile device - You can setup your email account on a mobile device using the default mail application or using your own email software. You can find instructions to setup this account here. (Forwarding must be turned off to get email on your mobile device)
Webmail access - In order to access this webmail account you must first setup MFA. Once you have MFA setup, you can now log into RRU Webmail. There will be no email in your email account as long as forwarding is on
