For domestic students, when you apply you create the passphrase and then we send you a computer account username. The username will work on the PCS Student Portal and the MyAdmin site.
For International students, you create your MyAdmin account, and this is the ONLY place you can currently log in unless you register for a separate PCS computer account.
Once a domestic or international student is officially “Registered” for a Credit program, you get an email address and your computer account now works across all systems.
2 weeks after your scheduled convocation, your account account is closed, and you only have access to the PCS Student Portal.

MyAdmin Account - This account is completely separate. You will always be able to log into this account with your personal email address and whatever passphrase you setup when you applied. This account never expires and is used to access your payments, transcripts, email forwarding and tax receipts.
You can find the MyAdmin Site at https://myadmin.royalroads.ca/
You can pay bills, order transcripts, view grades, order a bus pass, upload documents, manage your email forwarding and update your personal email address

SAM (also called the Academic Account - Looks like d4brown) - this is the username consisting of your preferred name + last name (and possibly a number) - Used on sites like:
Professional & Continuing Studies Moodle once registered for a Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) course
RRU Library one registered for a Credit program
RRU Library once registered for a Credit program
UPN (or User Principal Name - Look like d4brown@royalroads.ca) - this is your SAM account + @royalroads.ca. This makes the UPN look like an email address, but it is not used in this way. It is the SAME password as the SAM account above. It is used to log into sites like:

Email Address (looks like Douglas.4Brown@royalroads.ca) - This is your full name (and possibly a number). With very few exceptions, you rarely ever really use this email address to log in. How will I know which username format to use?In most cases we try to given an example on the username you should be using however the simple rules is, if the site is a Microsoft managed site with a login that looks like this, you should be using your UPN.  All others use your SAM unless otherwise directed. |
