For Windows computers:

  • The recording will show as an .mp4 video file on your computer, it saves it to the Users folder.

  • The folder path is:

           C:\Users\cpretorius\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\Recordings

Replace cpretorius with the user name used on your computer:

           C:\Users\your computer's username\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\Recordings

  • Note: You can also find the path by right clicking your mouse and selecting properties:

  • In the Target box, select and copy all of the text:

  • Open Windows Explorer, and paste the copied text into the bar at the top - C:\Users\cpretorius\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\Bin\KalturaCapture.exe

  • Delete or remove \Bin\KaturaCapture.exe from the path

  • Press enter

  • You should now see the Recordings folder

  • Double click to open the Recordings folder

  • Once you have the folder open, look for the .mp4 file you want to copy. The date of the recording will also show in your Kaltura Capture library.

Selecting the file will also show a thumbnail picture in the bottom left corner of the window.

Copy the .mp4 file to your desktop or save it to another folder on your computer. Then log into Moodle and upload directly into your MyMedia Library

Kaltura Capture: How do I find the recordings on my computer? - Mac

For Mac Computers:

Look for the recordings in the User Library folder.

Note: the (User) Library folder is intentionally hidden because it has settings and files that can affect how the computer operates.

  • Look in the top menu bar for the Go menu. Hold down the Option button (alt) on your keyboard + click on Go and the Library will unhide in the drop down menu and show up in the list of items.

  • Select Library and navigate through the folders, go to Preferences > Kaltura > Capture > Recordings. If you don’t see the Kaltura folder, try shift+cmd+period to see if the folder can be unhidden.

  • From the Recordings folder, look for the recent video file, it would be a .mp4 or .mpeg file. Copy the .mp4 or .mpeg file to your desktop (do not move it as it could cause a problem). You can rename this copy before uploading into My Media in Moodle if you like.

  • Then log in into Moodle and go to My Media > Add New > Media Upload.

Reference: Kaltura Capture Folder Directory - If the above is different, these instructions mention the Go menu in the Finder or going directly to /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Kaltura/Capture/
