Adding a second factor authentication method means that when you’re accessing RRU resources, :

  • you’ll authenticate as you always do using your username and password

  • AND sometimes, you may be required to provide a second authentication, depending on the resource you wish to access.

Are you wondering how MFA affects you when you’re camping in the bush with no internet, happily logging into your laptop to create a Word document describing your surroundings?

It doesn’t. You will only be asked to MFA when you are trying to access RRU resources. With no internet, you can’t access RRU resources, therefore, you will not need to MFA.
