My Media CaptureSpace (Windows or Mac) allows you to record screencasts, webcams, presentation slides, or just audio. The media can be uploaded directly to Kaltura 'to My Media' in in Moodle where it can be easily embedded anywhere the Moodle text editor is available.

- From Moodle, click on the User menu in the top right and click My Media.
- From the My Media window, click on Add New and then CaptureSpace.
- If you’ve already installed CaptureSpace, it will launch automatically.

If you haven't installed CaptureSpace, click on the button to download CaptureSpace for your operating system and install the software.
After installing:
Reload the My Media page in Moodle
Click 'Add New' and then 'CaptureSpace'
You may be presented with a confirmation window to open this link in the CaptureSpace software. The confirmation window will look different depending on your browser:
- In Chrome and Firefox tick the 'Remember my choice' box and click the 'Open' button.
- In Internet Explorer un-tick the 'Always ask before opening box' and click the 'Allow' button.
- In other browsers the options will be similar. Ensure that the software automatically opens.
The CaptureSpace software should open on your computer.
- With the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder window open, select from the options provided.
- Make the recording.
- When finished recording, click Done.
- If you've selected a recording type that includes a video you'll have the option to perform basic editing of the video before proceeding. Click Done when finished.
- Give the video a title and, optionally, you may also give the video a description tag/s.
- Click Upload.

- With the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder window open, select Screen to record a screencast. If you would like to include your webcam in the corner of your recording you may select Screen & Webcam.
- You may need to select which screen to record from and whether to record full screen or a selected area of one screen. If you've selected Full Screen click the Record button. If you've selected Select Area click the Select Area button, which will prompt you to click and drag the rectangle of the screen that will be recorded.
- A five-second countdown timer will indicate when recording will begin. To ensure that nothing is cut off from the beginning, it is a good idea to wait an extra second before you begin speaking.
- You may pause and resume the recording by pressing Alt + P.
You may also draw on your screen by using Alt + D, and this drawing will appear in the recorded video.
It's recommended that you pause your video with Alt + P and then stop it to avoid the screen capture controls from appearing in the video. - Use the Recording Screen Capture controls to stop your video. If you know you want to delete your recording and start again you may click Cancel. Click Done to move on to reviewing your video.

You can access the local MP4 video recording files, and here's how:
Open CaptureSpace and click on the the Settings tab tab. Copy the the location of of the 'Local Media Files Storage' and paste it into the Windows Explorer address bar. From there you'll need to find the correct sub folder with the MP4 file you're looking for.

- If you're not getting audio or video, go to the Settings tab in CaptureSpace and ensure that the correct video and audio sources are selected.
