Welcome to Week 1 of National Cyber Security Awareness Month.  This week's theme is "Make Your Home a Haven for Online Safety."

It wasn't that long ago that creating a cyber secure home was simple; most homes consisted of nothing more than a wireless network and several computers. Today, technology has become far more complex and is integrated into every part of our lives, from mobile devices and gaming consoles to your home thermostat and your refrigerator.  And, we're far more connected than we used to be.  Remember when you'd never dream of giving your teenager a cell phone?

Over the course of this week we'll have a number of items for you that will help you with securing your home and assisting the young people in your home with being more cyber security aware.  As always, you are free and in fact encouraged to share these materials with others, including your family, friends and neighbors.

If you have any questions about our activities in October or suggestions on how to improve our cyber security efforts, please contact us at: securityawareness@royalroads.ca
