Microsoft O365 license change from A1 Plus to A5 Student

Microsoft O365 license change from A1 Plus to A5 Student

Why are we changing licenses from “A1 Plus” to “A5 Student”?

Microsoft no longer offers the A1 Plus type license type. Organizations like RRU are required to issue different licenses to remain legally compliant with license agreements.

We will replace your A1 Plus license type with the new “Microsoft 365 Education A5 Student Use Benefit” license type, or “A5 Student” for short, effective December 16.

Do I need to do anything?

No, you do not. The transition to A5 will occur seamlessly. You won’t lose access to your email, OneDrive files, or any data during the upgrade. You do not need to change how you work with O365 if you prefer not to.

My email is forwarded to my personal email address. Do I need to change that?

If your email is forwarded to your personal address and you are happy with that, there is no obligation to change.

What does the A5 license offer me?

The A5 license includes robust security tools to keep your data safe, along with enhanced compliance features.

Tools to safeguard your identity and personal data while using school resources.
