Zoom - How to Create a Text Transcript from a Recording

These instructions will show you how to generate a text transcript for a Zoom meeting.

Steps

Record your Zoom session to the cloud (cloud recording is the default).

Once the recording is processed you should receive an email with the subject line "The audio transcript of cloud recording - [meeting name] is now available". In that email, click on 'View details' and then click on 'Audio transcript - English(original)' to download the transcript.

The file you download will be a VTT file with time stamps. If you double click on this file you'll likely be asked what program to open it in. It's a text file so any text editor such as Notepad or MS Word will be able to open it.

If you you want to remove the time stamps the following tool will do this. Navigate to https://ebby.co/subtitle-tools/converter/vtt-to-txt and follow the instructions there to convert the VTT file to a plain text file that doesn't have time stamps.
