Manage Your Email Forwarding (students)

This article is for current credit students only. We do not offer an RRU email account until you are a Credit Student,

Alumni prior to 2006 - If you are looking for information on Email-for-life, please contact Computer Services by phone, email or Online Request Form.

When a Student e-mail address is created, e-mail forwarding is automatically set to on. This means, by default, any e-mail sent to your RRU e-mail address will automatically be forwarded to the personal e-mail address you provided during registration.

Forwarding is not the only option available to you to manage your email.  For a detailed list of all the options available to you, please see our email information page.

Your email forwarding address

We have an official personal email address on file for you.

If you need to update your official personal email address, please do so via MyAdmin as you have done in the past.

Should you communicate with the university using a different personal email address, in some cases we might ask you to resend the communication using your RRU email address or the personal email address we have on file for you.

If you have forwarding on, we are sending your email to a specific address.

To change your email forwarding address or to turn it off or on, you’ll use the new webmail interface. While it is most common for students to forward their email to the official email address on file, you have the choice of using a different one.

If you choose to forward your RRU email to a different address than what is on file, and you wish for that to be your new official email address, please ensure that you update it in MyAdmin as well.

Instructions to change your Email forwarding

If you are here to toggle on or off your email forwarding preference, here’s how.

-4- Toggle forwarding on or off

‘Off’ looks like this

‘On’ looks like this (you’ll need to enter an email address)

Should I keep a copy in my mailbox?

We do not recommend that you keep a copy in your RRU mailbox if you have forwarding on.

  • Since you have limited quota in your inbox, you could quickly forget this option was selected and fill up your mailbox because you are not deleting unwanted emails

  • If your email is over quota, forwarding will stop.  So you might miss important emails and not know why.

  • You will have to manage your emails in two places

If you enable forwarding, a space will open up where you can enter the address where you wish your RRU email to go. Most students will enter the same email address they have on file in their student record but it can be any email address to which you have access.

-5- Click Save

If you want/need to change our Official Email address

We recommend that your official email address and your forwarding address remain the same for simplicity.

(If you only have one email address, then you do not need to make any other changes)

If you want to change your official email address, please log into the MyAdmin site.

  • Once logged in, on the General Information tab, you can change your email address.  Press Update to save it.

  • If you change your email address, you will see a page that tells you that you will be logged off and that you will need to log in again.  Your email address has been changed, but please remember that from now on, when logging into MyAdmin, you will need to use the new email address.

  • Please note that it can take up to 15 minutes for the change to take effect.
