Software Requests

This page is mainly for employees, including faculty.

Students in credit programs are eligible for a Microsoft Office 365 subscription and perhaps additional software, if identified below as such. If a software does not specifically say that a student license is available, it is not available to a student.

The Online Request Form for software is not available for anonymous or student accounts. If approval is required, only student supervisors may request software on behalf of a student (this includes SPSS, NVivo and SurveyMonkey).

Associate Faculty and Contractors please contact Computer Services by phone, email or Online Software Request Form to confirm what software is available.


Do you require specialized software for your work computer?  RRU is undertaking to ensure we’re running licensed and reputable software, considering software budget requirements and properly addressing security and privacy concerns. This list is constantly evolving and changing, but please follow the appropriate Action if the software is listed below, or skip to the Software Requests#Software Request Procedure if your software is not listed.

Note: For now, requests for drivers for hardware already purchased will not require special approval.  Please simply submit a service request to Computer Services.

Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Creative Cloud licenses for Students

Student license for home use can only be requested by a program head or doctoral supervisor in the case of a Doctoral student.

Note to Program Heads / Doctoral Supervisor - Although there is no direct cost to the individual school program, IT does bear the cost, and in turn RRU bears the cost.  So it is important that the license requirement is approved for individual students with that in mind.  It should be noted that Adobe Reader is a free tool to read PDF documents.  Office products like Word and Excel offer the example to create PDF documents, free of charge.  So please make sure all alternatives are investigated before approving a license.
