Moodle - Adding and editing links

Adding/editing links applies to any Moodle content (e.g., html pages or books), including your schedule, readings list, etc.

First, highlight the text that you'd like to link. People using screen readers will mainly rely on the linked text to give them information about the link, so do not use "click here".

Next, select the link button

A pop-up window for your link will appear

Determine if the link should open in the same browser tab or in a new browser tab.

  • If you're linking to something within your course, do not select Open in new window.
  • If you're linking to something outside of your course, select Open in new window.

Select Create Link to save your changes.

Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Save and display to view your new link.

Select somewhere in the linked text–no need to select it all–and select the link button. Editing the link is similar to creating the link, as shown above.
