How to fix a link copied from webmail

Links copied from RRU webmail will include a redirect that causes them to not work for others. This article shows how to remove the redirect and turn the link back into its original form so that it will work for others.

Navigate to the following site, paste the link into it, select the Fix Link button.

Webmail Link Fixer

If anyone needs to do this manually, here are the steps:

Here's an example of a link copied from webmail. Note that the link starts with 'webmail.royalroads.ca', indicating that webmail has added the redirect that these instructions will show how to remove.

https://webmail.royalroads.ca/owa/redir.aspx?C=ZxE9akefTHlmMVhPyjNo51LoWTaMBit_sZNkxarodTmD6bL2cW7aCA..&URL=https%3a%2f%2fwww.royalroads.ca%2fCTET

Remove everything up to but not including the https (or http), which produces the following:

https%3a%2f%2fwww.royalroads.ca%2fCTET

Paste this into the box at the top of urldecoder.org and select the 'decode' button. The decoded link will appear in the bottom box. Copy the decoded link and use as needed.
