SharePoint Error - "context has expired"
Every so often you might get the following error when trying to open a video or photo request:
Error
The context has expired and can no longer be used. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80090317)Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.
Correlation ID: 5397cca0-1c43-007a-b23e-06a1ed4ea8c8
Date and Time:
This is a known issue with Sharepoint 2013, i.e., it is not specific to your list or even the Media site.
Unfortunately there's nothing we can do to definitively solve the problem, we have to deal with it each time it happens.
Sharepoint 2013 already reached end-of-life and is not supported by Microsoft anymore. We are working to migrate the site to Sharepoint Online but that will still take some time to happen.
In the meantime you have two options:
Leaving the site and go back later. RRU has processes that run automatically in the background that eventually resolve the issue by themselves but we can't control them so it is a matter of "sitting and waiting" or...
You can Submit a ticket each time that happens, so we can reset the IIS (the service that runs Sharepoint). That solves the issue (until it happens again).
Unfortunately, there won't be a definitive solution for this, until we migrate the media site out of Sharepoint 2013.
