Which WiFi network at John Horgan Campus is right for you?

This information applies to John Horgan Campus

There are three wifi networks available at RRU Langford, John Horgan Campus

(1) Westshore-Guest

This wifi network is usually intended for guests - anyone who does not have an active computer account or will be using a non-tenant provided computer or laptop. Speeds are restricted to 25Mbps upload and download. This network supports the use of Whatsapp.

  • Select Westshore-Guest from the list of wifi networks

  • You will be redirected to a webpage and asked to agree to Terms of Use, similar to what you might experience in hotels; please wait a few seconds for the system to process your agreement and connect you to the internet

  • You will be required to agree to the terms the first time your device connects each day

  • No username or password is required

  • You will have access to the internet only

  • If you have any questions or problems, please come visit us in JHC 403 or call us at 250.391.2659

  • Select Westshore-Guest from the list of wifi networks

(2) WestShore-Secure

This network is intended for current staff, faculty and students - anyone who has an active computer account with their home institution.

  • Select WestShore-Secure from the list of wireless networks

  • When asked to log in, do so using your usual institution login (in the format of 'username@royalroads.ca', username@jibc.ca, etc.)

  • If you see a message like “If you expect to find Westshore-Secure here…”, hit ‘Connect’

  • If you are using an Android device, please see these special instructions Connecting to WIFI - Android

  • Provides access to the internet only (just as if you were at home or in a hotel)

  • Apple users should disable "Private Wi-Fi Address" in the details of the Wifi connection on their mobile device for a more consistent connection.

  • If you have any questions or problems, please come visit us in JHC 403.

Staff and faculty, please note:  You may have a different experience at Westshore than you would at your home institution. Please consult your institutions IT department if you have any issues.

(3) Eduroam

We are a proud member of the Eduroam community. If you are visting from other institutions, you may be interested in our Eduroam implementation, allowing use of wifi networks at partnering institutions. You can read more about it here.

Please connect to eduroam (all lowercase.)

Note that if you are staff/faculty located primarily on-site, you should be connecting to the Westshore-Secure with your institution ID instead.
