Network/internet outage during firewall upgrade Dec 18 from 7-8pm PST

Firewall upgrade on Colwood campus

To maintain system reliability, improve network performance, and strengthen our security posture:

What: An important firewall upgrade will be completed on the Colwood campus

When: Thursday, December 18 from 7 to 8pm PST

Impact: a network (and internet) outage 30-60 minutes 

 

 During the outage, all RRU network-dependent services will be unavailable.

How will you be affected?

You cannot:

  • make phone calls using our phone system.

  • log into a computer

  • print or copy

  • connect to the network or internet (including wireless)

  • access remote desktop

You cannot:

  • access Moodle

You can:

  • access websites and services hosted elsewhere like the corporate website, the PCS student portal, webmail and other Microsoft services on your phone using data.

You can:

  • access websites and services hosted elsewhere like the corporate website, the PCS student portal, webmail and other Microsoft services.

What do you need to do?

  • Save your work before 7:00 pm.

  • Expect interruptions/failures/outages if you are using networked services during the outage window.

  • No action is needed after the upgrade; everything should reconnect automatically.
