Introduction
My Media offers automatic caption creation for your videos, providing a text alternative to the video audio. The captions can be edited manually to fix any errors or add descriptions as needed.
This article will explain how to create captions for existing videos already uploaded into My Media.
Quick tips to help improve caption accuracy:
- Speak clearly
- Avoid speaking too quickly
- Ensure the the audio quality is good

1. Select your video in My Media
- Log into Moodle, in the left side top navigation drawer bar click on on My Media.

- Select one of your videos by clicking the thumbnail picture or the video's title.
2. Order the Captions
- Below the video select Actions and you will see a drop down menu with various options. Select Order Captions.
- The screen is divided into two sections. Existing Requests – lists existing captions and enrichment requests.
If there are no existing captions' requests, the following message is displayed:

4. Scroll down to the Order Captions and Enrichment Services section.
5. Click Submit.
6. Wait for automatic processing
- The captions will automatically populate once you have ordered captions. This can take a few minutes to hours depending on the video's length and how busy the system is processing other caption orders.
- Once captions have been processed, the captions will automatically be available on this video anywhere you've added the video in Moodle without any further steps. A CC button will appear at the bottom right of the video player when captions are available.
